Well, we finally took the plunge and went on a camping trip with all 3 kids :) It was.....tiring, but VERY fun! We went to Trillium Lake by Mt. Hood with Dave's brother Adam and his family. The kids had a blast, we didn't sleep at all, and the views were absolutely AMAZING! Enjoy the pics and of course there are a couple stories at the end :)
Before leaving for camping, Emma asked me if there were going to be any wild animals like bears or coyotes roaming around. Because if so, she was “not going to go.” I assured her that even though there are lots of animals in the forest, they usually stay FAR FAR away from us humans. This seemed to help her chill out.
Later that night while getting ready for bed, Ben says, “I can’t wait to go to sleep in the tent listening to all the coyotes howling!”
Thanks Ben. Thanks a lot….
Well, our first camping trip with all 3 kids did not disappoint. This is how I would break down the whole tent camping experience with 3 kids and a dog:
100% of the time you are purely and utterly exhausted, but that goes without saying….
25%- time spent in and around the pit toilets and squatting in the woods
20%- trying to find stuff you need in a gazillion different totes
15%- spraying on sunscreen and bug spray
10%-making sure 2 years olds don’t trip into the fire
8%- making sure 5 years olds don’t burn the forest down
6%- retrieving Frisbees from high in the trees
5%-calming down an 8 year old when a thunderstorm rolls through
5%- wiping off marshmallow stickiness from EVERYTHING
4%- applying band aids
2%- Priceless memories
I would so do it all over again just for that 2%…..
